Arboretum Community Center

Washington, DC

GCS-SIGAL provided construction manager at-risk (CMAR) services for the new construction and renovation of the Arboretum Community Center, one of D.C.’s newest mass timber projects. The renovation was completed on approximately 1,400 square feet of an existing building and an addition encompassing approximately 6,880 gross square feet for a new 1/2 gym, community room, kitchen, study area, and other amenities. The gym utilizes glulam beams and CLT (Cross Laminated Timber) panels to mimic the wood design of the neighboring U.S. National Arboretum. In addition, site improvements included new playgrounds, one for younger children and one for older children, a new outdoor fitness equipment area, and resurfaced tennis courts.
