Our History
Excellence. Innovation. Vision.
Founded in 2018 following the merger of SIGAL Construction Corporation and Georgetown Construction Services, GCS-SIGAL has combined more than four decades of superior service and industry excellence to emerge as the Mid-Atlantic region’s premier general contractor.
The SIGAL name is built on a reputation for commitment, industry expertise, innovation, and responsibility that our founder, Gerry Sigal, brought to the region when he started the DC-based company in 1977. Recognizing the need for a construction services provider to meet the demands of the growing company, Gerry founded GCS, Inc. in 1986, and quickly grew it to become one of the area’s leading firms.
Having grown up learning the business from his father, Mike Sigal took the reins of both SIGAL and GCS, Inc. and brought them together under one roof and with one mission: to build GCS-SIGAL on a legacy of excellence through projects, both public and private, that strengthen the communities they serve.
In 2022, GCS-SIGAL relocated to the NoMa neighborhood with new offices in the renovated Uline Arena, one of the district’s most historic event spaces and the original home of Washington’s NHL and NBA teams. That same year Sigal brought two longtime employees, Gabe Oliver and Dan Waldo, into the partnership that now guides GCS-SIGAL’s corporate vision.
GCS-SIGAL’s dedication to the highest industry standards and determination to meet the challenges presented by complex and innovative projects continue to define the company’s reputation and make it a preferred contractor and employer in the Mid-Atlantic region.
