Washington Capitals Iceplex

The Washington Capitals Iceplex project features two NHL regulation size ice skating rinks serving Arlington County as well as corporate offices, locker rooms, and fitness facilities for the Washington Capitals professional hockey team. Constructed above an operational parking garage and connected to an active shopping mall, the two-story facility maintained uninterrupted operations throughout construction.
The existing garage columns were reinforced to support the new structure, while complex MEP systems, including specialized dehumidifiers, were installed. The façade combines metal panels and glass, sloping out over the sidewalk for a dramatic effect.
