St. Elizabeths Parking Garage

GCS-SIGAL, in joint-venture with Grunley Construction, constructed a 750-space parking garage on the historic St. Elizabeths East Campus in Washington, DC. The garage provides parking for the entire campus, including the adjacent Entertainment and Sports Arena. The structure features precast concrete with cast-in-place concrete retaining walls, offering two levels below the street-level entry and five levels above, totaling seven levels.

The project faced unique challenges due to the site’s steep slope, proximity to a WMATA tunnel, location above DC Water infrastructure, partial placement within a designated wetland, and the presence of fly ash-contaminated soils.
