Residences at St. Elizabeths East

Washington, DC

St. Elizabeths Hospital, established in 1855 as the Government Hospital for people with mental illness, has a rich history as a significant employer for generations of DC residents. Situated on a prominent site east of the Anacostia River, the campus is recognized on the National Register of Historic Places as a National Historic Landmark. As part of DC’s St. Elizabeths East Master Plan to create a vibrant residential and commercial hub in Ward 8, GCS-SIGAL undertook the transformation of this historic campus into new housing options.

The Residences at St. Elizabeths East now features 252 apartments, including 202 units designated for affordable housing and 88 family-sized units. Residents can enjoy a variety of amenities, such as a fitness area, clubroom, outdoor grilling space, playground, and secured parking.
