R.I.S.E. Demonstration Center

Washington, DC

The adaptive reuse of a 1950s chapel on the St. Elizabeths East Campus transformed this space into a dynamic community hub, playing a key role in the District’s redevelopment efforts. The center features demonstration and lecture halls equipped with state-of-the-art technology for guest speakers and conferences, a Digital Inclusion Center with a computer lab, and a versatile career conference space designed to host events and programs.

The center has proven successful for the city, the St. Elizabeths campus, and the neighborhood. The success of this center and other nearby projects was instrumental in the mayor’s selection of the East Campus as the home for the Washington Mystics and the flurry of development that has since followed.
