Northern Virginia Community College’s Higher Education Center on the Loudoun Campus is a new three-story facility featuring a music recording studio, collaborative classrooms, offices, lounges, and computer labs with advanced telecommunications capabilities. A cantilevered second floor dramatically extends over the campus pond, connected to the Learning Commons Complex by a walkway across the water.

Construction required partial drainage of the pond for building footings, along with retaining walls and landscape improvements. The new state-of-the-art building incorporates sustainable design elements, including an 80-well geothermal field and other energy-efficient systems.
