Jackson Reed High School

Washington, DC

GCS-SIGAL completed the landmark renovation of Jackson-Reed High School (formerly Woodrow Wilson High School), which included a 71,000-square-foot addition and the adaptive reuse of the existing building. The renovation transformed underutilized spaces into functional program areas, resulting in three distinct venues: Academic, Athletic, and Visual and Performing Arts Centers. These areas converge at the Crossroads Courtyard atrium, featuring a striking skylight.

The existing auditorium was repositioned into the gymnasium, while the former gymnasium became the Visual and Performing Arts Center, complete with an 800-seat theater. Additional renovations to the main building included a new public entrance next to the relocated administrative offices and cafeteria.
