Discovery Elementary School

Discovery Elementary is Arlington’s first elementary school designed in the 21st century. Every design element of the school is arranged to create a seamless integration between design, sustainability, and learning. Project included a rooftop solar lab that allows students to conduct real-time and ongoing experiments.

Upon completion, this project was the largest net-zero energy elementary school ever built in the United States and was the first net-zero energy school of any kind in the Commonwealth of Virginia. It was also the first net-zero school in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
